For details on problems fixed in this Fix Pack, refer to the Fix List document.

The Rational Team Concert version 2.0.0.1 Fix Pack release contains new features, including:

For a comprehensive list of features, see
New and Noteworthy.

For the latest version of the Help, which includes information about features introduced in 2.0.0.1, see the Information Center at Jazz.net. The online help that ships with Rational Team Concert 2.0.0.1 has not been updated for 2.0.0.1.

About FixPack 1 (2.0.0.1)

WebSphere Application Server licenses

For Rational Team Concert Fix Pack 2.0.0.1, each valid license of a Standard or Enterprise edition server includes a license to run one instance of WebSphere Application Server. Additionally, each valid license of an Enterprise edition server includes a license to run an additional instance of WebSphere Application Server in a high availability configuration.

Download WebSphere Application Server:

Upgrade the WebSphere Application Server to the minimum version required with this Fix Pack, listed in the Detailed system requirements for the IBM Rational Team Concert V 2.0 server environment document.

Must run "repotools -addTables" after deployment

If you are you deploying Fix Pack 2.0.0.1 to a server that did not already have 2.0.0.1 M2 deployed, you must run "repotools -addTables" after deploying 2.0.0.1 but before running the server for the first time. This operation will add new tables that are required by changes in the Reports component as well as by components of Jazz Foundation Services. If you fail to do this you may see errors when running certain reports or when the server attempts to create snapshots for the data warehouse, or you may experience exceptions or see errors in the log such as "CRJAZ0398I Unable to find dbid for ItemType." If you are unable to perform this operation immediately after deploying Fix Pack 2.0.0.1, you can still perform the operation later without compromising the integrity of any component metadata.

Must create JAZZTMPSPACE temporary tablespace after deployment

If you deploy this build to a server with a repository on DB2 running on Windows, Linux, AIX or Solaris platforms, you must create a temporary tablespace called JAZZTMPSPACE before running the server for the first time. This tablespace is required by recent changes in the planning component. The detailed instructions for creating a tablespace can be found in the DB2 documentation. If automatic storage is enabled, the temporary tablespace can usually be created with the following DB2 command:

create user temporary tablespace JAZZTMPSPACE managed by automatic storage

If this operation is not performed, errors may occur when invoking planning operations. If you are unable to perform this operation before running the server you can still perform the operation later without compromising the integrity of the repository.

Alternately, if you already created the JAZZ_USER temporary tablespace as described in the 2.0.0.1 M2 Release Notes on Jazz.net, you can set the system config property com.ibm.team.repository.db.db2.temp.tablespace.name to JAZZ_USER so that it is used for temporary storage.

For a detailed list of the system requirements prior to installing, review the Detailed System Requirements documents:

For detailed information about installing Rational Team Concert, see the Installing section in the Rational Team Concert information center.

New customers

Download Rational Team Concert 2.0.0.1 from Jazz.net.

After the download, purchase the Server Activation Key from Passport Advantage (PPA). By default, Rational Team Concert is installed with a trial license. To convert the license to a permanent license, you need to install the Server Activation Key for the release. For the 2.0.0.1 release, use the 2.0.0.1 activation keys. If a server is upgraded from 1.0.x.x to 2.x, it reverts to a trial license after the upgrade, and you need to obtain the 2.0.0.1 activation keys from PPA.

Purchase Rational Team Concert 2.0 from PPA and install it.

While installing through IBM Installation Manager, in the Install Packages page click Check for Other Versions and Extensions. Now, you can see version 2.0.0.1 in the install list. Select version 2.0.0.1 and install it.

New customers looking for the Rational Team Concert client for Microsoft Visual Studio IDE need to download it from Jazz.net. This client is not available in the compressed (zip) format. You can download the trial bits from Jazz.net for 2.0.0.1, and then download the 2.0 server activation key and CALs from PPA.

Note: Rational Team Concert 2.0.0.1 includes a new release of DB2 Workgroup Server Edition that corrects problems that sometimes occur when importing from CVS or Subversion into Rational Team Concert. It is recommended that you upgrade to the new DB2 release from Jazz.net.

Existing/Upgrading customers

To upgrade to Rational Team Concert 2.0 through Installation Manager, in the main page of the Installation Manager, click Update.

Note: Pre-1.0.1.1 versions are available only in English. If you upgrade from an earlier version to 2.0.0.1, the Installation Manager assumes that you want to use English and does not prompt you to select languages. To select the additional languages after you upgrade to 2.0.0.1, select Modify from the main screen in the Installation Manager, then select the offering. The next screen shows the list of supported languages. Select the ones you need.

If you start the Jazz Team Server after you upgrade to 2.0.0.1 and before you select Modify to add or remove languages, you must reset the server as follows:

1.     In a Web browser, navigate to: https://server-host:9443/jazz/admin.action=com.ibm.team.repository.admin.serverReset.

2.     Click Request Server Reset.

3.     Shut down the server.

Then, you can select Modify in the Installation Manager to add or remove languages.

By default, Rational Team Concert is installed with a trial license. To convert the license to a permanent license, you need to install the Server Activation Key for the release. For the 2.0 release, use the 2.0 activation keys. If a server is upgraded from 1.0.x.x to 2.0, it reverts to a trial license after the upgrade, and you need to obtain the 2.0 activation keys from Passport Advantage.

For more information about upgrading to 2.0, see the Upgrading topic in the Rational Team Concert information center.

Note: A database migration is required for customers upgrading from 1.0.x.x to 2.x. For more information about migration, see the Migration topic.

Note: Rational Team Concert 2.0 includes certain i-fixes related to IBM JRE and WebSphere Application Server. For more information, click here.

Note: Rational Team Concert 2.0 includes a new release of the DB2 Workgroup Server Edition that corrects problems that sometimes occur when importing from CVS or Subversion into Rational Team Concert. If you are upgrading from a version of Rational Team Concert prior to 2.0, it is recommended that you upgrade to the new DB2 release from Jazz.net.

8.            How do I – understand the Differences and Compatibility in the various RTC Client Editions

Is there any differences between the various IBMฎ Rationalฎ Team Concert (RTC) Client Editions?

Answer

No, not with the installed software itself. The RTC Express-C, Express, and Standard Editions have the same bits with the same version number. The difference lies with what enterprise features you can use and the number of maximum client licenses available. So, for example, an Express Edition Client can access a Standard Edition Server.

For CSV exports, a blank file is generated. Both from the WebUI and the rich Client, work items queries can be run. However, work items export will fail with the message:

The following entry can be found in the server's log:
00000038 SRTServletRes W WARNING: Cannot set status. Response already committed

Cause

The Edge Side Include (ESI) plug-in prevents the response received from the server to be committed.

Environment

The architecture context of this issue is the 3 servers configuration (see link below):

1.     IBM HTTP Server [IHS] as the front-end.

2.     IBM Rational Team Concert server runs on IBM Websphere Application Server.

3.     Repository database might be on a third server.

The IHS server is deployed as the IHS for WAS plug-in, and acts as the front-end that redirects request to the RTC server.

Diagnosing the problem

With the above architecture in place, all other operations / commands complete successfully.
However, the export will fail. When removing the IHS from the architecture in place, the export (both HTML and CSV) would complete successfully.

The following entry can be found in the server's log:

00000038 SRTServletRes W WARNING: Cannot set status. Response already committed.

Resolving the problem

Disable the Edge Side Include (ESI) plug-in by modifying the Web server plug-in properties.

Save your changes and restart the WAS server.

11.         How do I - change language configuration of Rational Team Concert client on a non English locale operating system.

How can you change the user interface language in IBM Rational Team Concert client to be different than the operating system's?

Cause

Use of the Rational Team Concert with custom user interface language enabled.

Answer

In order to change the language of the Rational Team Concert client, you need to edit the start-up parameters and change them to use the desired language.

Due to backward compatibility there are three possible ways of achieving this goal. You should just choose one and apply it.

Open the Rational Team Concert client directory and find the eclipse.ini file.

1.     First and most common way of changing the language would be to add the following lines in this file:

-ln
de

Note: In the second line you can put an abbreviation of language you would like to set, for example en for English, de for German, jp for Japan and others, please refer to Rational Team Concert documentation for more information).

2.     Now, Save the file and restart RTC.

3.     The language is changed to German. See the exemplary screenshot below:

4.     In the second possibility use the following lines, instead of the lines mentioned above:

-Duser.language=en
-Duser.country=US

5.     Now save the file and restart RTC. Here we set the language to English. See exemplary screenshot below.

In the third way put the following line in eclipse.ini file:

-Dosgi.nl=de

6.     Save the file and restart RTC. Here we set the language to German. See exemplary screenshot below.

12.         How do I - creating a IP Tables rule to allow access to Jazz Team Server through a Firewall

The Jazz Team Server cannot be accessed through a web browser because a firewall has been configured on the host computer in Linux. An IP Tables rule needs to be configured on the firewall to allow access to the Jazz Team Server and IBM Rational Team Concert

When trying to access the Jazz Team Server Web Admin User Interface through a web browser, the following error message is displayed even though the database is currently

Symptom

Running.

Resolving the problem

To diagnose this connectivity issue and conclude that it is because of a Firewall, try to ping the server by using the command #ping [JazzTeamServerName], or the command #ping [JazzTeamServerIPAddress]. If you are able to ping the server, yet still cannot access the Jazz Team Server Web User Interface, this is probably because of a firewall-related issue.
To see if a firewall is currently on, use the command:
#service iptables status

Depending on corporate security policy, an administrator can temporarily stop the firewall on Linux to test to see if it is blocking the traffic to the Jazz Team Server.
To do this, the user must have root privileges, and enter the following command:
# service iptables stop
(depending on what version of Linux is being ran, a variation of the command might need to be used)

*Note: It is not necessary to turn off the Firewall to add a rule to it. Turning off the Firewall is a quick way to test whether or not the Firewall is causing issues when trying to connect to the Jazz Team Server login screen.

Next, try to access the Web User Interface in a browser by going to https://localhost:9443/jazz. If the following screen appears, the issue was that the Firewall was dropping the traffic to the Jazz Team Server.

To correct this, a rule will need to be added to the firewall so that traffic is accepted to the Jazz Team Server. The rule entered is as follows:
# iptables –A INPUT –p tcp --dport 9443 –j ACCEPT

This allows the Firewall to:
-A Append a rule to the end of the rule set.
INPUT Filters packets that have a destination of the Firewall (used if the firewall is on the Jazz Team Server, if it is not, then OUTPUT would be used).
-p tcp Filters based on packets using TCP
--d port 9443 Filters based on packets destined for port 9443 on the Firewall.
-j ACCEPT Jump to the specified ACCEPT chain, that is, accept the incoming packet.

*Note: Port 9443 is the default secure port used by Tomcat and Jazz Team Server. Another common port used by Tomcat is 9080, however this is an unsecure port. If this port is normally used to access the Jazz Team Server, it should be entered as a separate rule.

After this rule has been entered, the following commands can be entered.
#service iptables save

This will save the configuration to the Firewall. You can then turn on the Firewall by entering the following command:
#service iptables start
(depending on what version of Linux is being ran, a variation of the command might need to be used)

If the Firewall was not turned off, either the machine or Firewall must be restarted to accept the changes made to the Firewall. The Firewall can be restarted using the following command:
# service iptables restart

To test that this rule was configured correctly, open a browser to the Web User Interface homepage, https://localhost:9443/jazz, and ensure that the login screen appears.

13.         How do I – understand why the Agile and Eclipse Way process templates available as a separate download

In Rational Team Concert 1.X version, Agile and Eclipse Way process templates were shipped with Rational Team Concert Server.

Answer

The Agile and Eclipse Way process templates have been removed from Rational Team Concert 2.0, but are still available as a separate download

14.         How do I – understand support of the IPv6 addresses notation

This technote explains support for IPv6 addresses notation when using IBM Rational Team Concert.

Symptom

I am unable to log in to the Jazz Team Server when my address to the server uses an IPv6 literal address (colon notation).

Prerequisite: IPv6 network

         The server returns "invalid username/password"

or

Prerequisite: IPv6 network, Sun JVM

The message returned mentions "Protocol family not supported".

Cause

For complete details, see jazz.net work item 78748.

For IPv6 literal in URL

This restriction is caused by a dependency on http client 3.0. Rational Team Concert Development will try to move to a newer version that lifts the restriction in future releases.

For "Protocol family not supported" error

Running the JazzTeam Server on Microsoft Windows XP / Vista with the Sun JRE 1.5 / 1.6 would cause a "Protocol family not supported" exception.

Environment

Applies to Rational Team Concert 1.x, 2.x and any products based on Jazz Foundation 1.0 along with IPv6 network.

Diagnosing the problem

The network between the client and the server only supports IPv6

Resolving the problem

For Jazz Foundation 1.x or Rational Team Concert 2.x, the notation https://[fe80:211:25ff:fe28:9fba]:9443/jazz of IPv6 addresses is NOT supported.

Only host names will be allowed. For example: https://<server>:9443/jazz

Installing the Sun JRE 1.7 solves the "Protocol family not supported" error. The Jazz server should be run on top of the Sun JRE 1.7 on Microsoft Windows XP / Vista.

This technote explains the Query Expired error message that can occur when using IBM Rational Team Concert, and describes how to resolve it.

Symptom

The Eclipse client or the Web client sometimes shows a Query Expired error message when running a query:

Only part of the query runs.

The query returns some results but does not report the total number of work items.

For more information, see jazz.net work item 76944

Environment

This problem applies to both 1.X and 2.0, and both to the Eclipse UI and the Web UI.

Diagnosing the problem

The problem occurs intermittently

Resolving the problem

Increasing the Query Cache Size solves the problem:

1.     Go to the Rational Team Concert server's Admin WebUI: https://<server_URL>/jazz/admin

2.     Select Advanced Properties.

3.     Search the "com.ibm.team.repository.service.internal.QueryService" section.

Increase the Query Cache size: Are the default and proposed values part of this step? I will format them accordingly. --> YES
Default value:65
Proposed new value: 150

4.     Save your changes

5.     Stop and restart the server

17.         How do I – understand deploying Rational Team Concert on WebSphere Application Server for high availability using idle standby

Where can I find information about high availability for IBM Rational Team Concert running on IBM WebSphere Application Server

Answer

Idle Standby is a failover strategy for basic high availability.

The Rational Team Concert Idle Standby configuration provides for failover recovery to help ensure minimal impact on business operations during planned or unplanned server outages. Implementing the Idle Standby functionality requires purchase of the Enterprise edition of Rational Team Concert. The functionality also requires the WebSphere Application Server.

20.         How do I – understand Installing Rational Team Concert Client by extending an existing Eclipse 3.4.2 environment.

A patch is required to install IES version 3.4.2 for Rational products. Without this patch installed, the following error message might be encountered during installation:

Some features and bundles of your existing Eclipse installation need to be upgraded with newer versions or are missing. You must update your existing Eclipse using its Install/Update manager. Use its "Help > Software Updates > Find and Install..." menu item to invoke its Install/Update manager.

Alternatively, you can download the features and bundles from eclipse.org.
Feature "org.eclipse.equinox.p2.user.ui.R342patch" is missing
Feature "org.eclipse.rcp.R342patch" is missing
Feature "org.eclipse.jdt.R342patch" is missing

Answer

Patches must be installed on top of Eclipse 3.4.2 before installing Rational Team Concert 2.0 client extending Eclipse 3.4.2.

See technote 1330083, which describes the installation procedure.

21.         How do I - export Rational Team Concert databases in Oracle Database using the expdb utility

When using the "exp" utility from Oracle to back up the Oracle database backup, columns of type BINARY_FLOAT and BINARY_DOUBLE were not exported. This procedure can be used when working with an IBM Rational Team Concert repository database.

Symptom

In the resulting log, many error messages can be observed:

EXP-00104: datatype (BINARY_DOUBLE) of column VAL in table CQDBA.WORKITEMS_SNAPSHOT_WC_DBL_XT_T is not
supported, table will not be exported
EXP-00104: datatype (BINARY_FLOAT) of column VAL in table CQDBA.WORKITEMS_SNAPSHOT_WC_FLT_XT_T is not
supported, table will not be exported

Cause

The Rational Team Concert database uses the optimal Oracle datatypes named BINARY_FLOAT and BINARY_DOUBLE. BINARY_FLOAT and BINARY_DOUBLE are newer, more efficient column types and are introduced to replace the generic NUMBER datatype.

The Oracle "exp" utility does not handle BINARY_FLOAT and BINARY_DOUBLE datatypes export. Oracle recommends using the "expdp" utility to export BINARY_FLOAT and BINARY_DOUBLE datatypes.

Diagnosing the problem

Database is Oracle Database 10g or newer.

The Oracle "exp" utility is being used to export the database and not the "expdb" utility.
Error messages EXP-00104 are seen in the log.

Resolving the problem

To resolve this issue, use the "expdb" utility to export the database.

22.         How do I – understand the Rational Team Concert 2.0 predefined Process Templates

The predefined process templates have been enhanced in Rational Team Concert 2.0. The changes to each template are summarized below.

Scrum

1.     Dashboard templates now have contributor templates using the new named templates feature.

2.     Rational Team Concert added "Contributor", "Developer", and "Team Lead" templates that slightly differ in content and layout.

3.     The Task Work Item type was separated from Defect with its own Workflow and Editor Presentations.

4.     Workflows for all Work Item types were reworked by removing unnecessary States and Actions.

5.     The Quick Information configuration was updated to show C/ALM links.

6.     The Editor Presentations for all Work Item types were reworked (reorder attributes, more type specific configuration).

7.     New Work Item types were added: Track Build Item, Adoption Item, Epic.

8.     New Predefined Queries were added and existing ones improved.

9.     Change Management Type Bindings were added.

10.  Plans are called (depending on their type) Sprint Backlog, Team Backlog, Product Backlog.

11.  Time Remaining is used instead of Time Spent as a default work item progress mode.

12.  Story points will be used to track the progress of team and product backlogs.

13.   New reports have been added: Release Burndown, Story Points by Iteration, Estimated versus Actual Work, and Team Velocity by Team.

OpenUP

1.     Updated to match the latest version (1.5) of the OpenUP process. Changes to support version 1.5 include simplifying the iteration structure and defining permissions that become more strict as the project moves through its lifecycle.

2.     Dashboard templates now have contributor templates using the new named templates feature. "Contributor", "Developer", and "Team Lead" templates were added that slightly differ in content and layout.

3.     The Quick Information configuration was updated to show C/ALM links.

4.     Change Management Type Bindings were added.
New reports have been added.

Agile
The Agile template is no longer part of the predefined set of templates.

Eclipse Way
The Eclipse Way template is no longer part of the predefined set of templates.

Simple Team Process
Simple Team Process no longer creates a team as part of the project initialization.

23.         How do I – understand the Rational Team Concert repository database collocation recommendation

When installing your Rational Team Concert repository database and the Application Server that will be running Rational Team Concert, consider the following recommendations:

A.    A fast and resilient connection between the application server and the database.

B.    Avoid using firewall between the application server and the database.

C.    Both the application server and the database should be on the same gigabit subnet

By not following the above recommendation, you may be exposed to:

1.     Server and repository DB on distant machines
Poor performances due to the connection speed between the Rational Team Concert server and its repository DB.

2.     Firewall
A firewall between the server and the database have a tendency to close the connections between the server and the database, resulting in 'reconnection' from the server to the database and in some cases, impact the speed of the build and/or induce deadlocks in the database which reduces the performance of the software.

29.         How do I – understand the Work Item Layout Customization in Rational Team Concert

Work item customization in RTC 1.0.x includes layout customizations (in fact all editor layouts are specified through work item customization).

However there is limitation that "free layouts" are not yet supported, that is you cannot freely place attributes within a form. Current RTC 1.0.x supports modifications of "predefined layouts", that is you can add attributes to the predefined layouts at predefined "slots".

Free layout customization has been identified as a request for enhancement (RFE) on Jazz.net. Jazz development is planning for Rational Team Concert 2.0 (but not yet commited) to add a "Free Form Layout" to the set of predefined layouts. This will allow to place attributes at arbitrary positions within an editor tab.
For details of how work item customization is supported in RTC 1.0.x client, check out
this URL link in RTC info center site.

Also see

37.         How do I – understand how IBM Rational Team Concert 2.0.0.1 adds new report templates, such as Burnup, which may be useful to users of Scrum and other agile methodologies. After moving to 2.0.0.1, however, these reports do not show in the list of available reports in existing project areas. How can I make them appear?

Report templates are deployed automatically to a project area when the project is created. After that, report templates are user-managed artifacts.

Part of the user management story is that new reports are not automatically deployed - you have to decide whether you want them and, if so, manually deploy them to the appropriate project areas.

Answer

In the Rational Team Concert rich client:

Open the Team Artifacts view.

Expand the project area and the "Reports" node.

Right-click on "Report Templates" and select "Deploy New Templates..." from the context menu.

A list of available report templates will appear. Select the report templates you wish to deploy.

After the templates are created, you may create new reports from the templates by right-clicking on a reports folder and selecting "New > Report...".

The resulting report will appear in both the rich client and in the web UI.

In the particular case of Burnup, selecting the "Burnup" and "Micro Burnup" templates for deployment will ensure that the Burnup report is available in the dashboard as well.

You do not need to create a new report from the "Micro Burnup" template - as long as the template is

38.         How do I – understand where can you get information about licensing for IBM Rational Jazz products?

The choice of the license type might be difficult, because the licensing works differently from the other IBM Rational products.

46.         How do I – understand the sample set-up procedure for the Rational ClearCase Connector

This technote is a "How To" that intends to describe the steps necessary to set up the Rational ClearCase Connector. It is assumed here that you read the references below, and that you have installed Rational Team Concert (Client and Server) and the Rational ClearCase Connector.

Use case scenario

The purpose here is to exercise the Rational ClearCase Connector, to synchronize the Rational Team Concert repository with a Rational ClearCase VOB. This scenario is not representative of a customer scenario, where one would expect the Rational ClearCase repository to be already populated, and the CC Connector would then be used to synchronize it to Rational Team Concert repository.

The scenario is to create a new (and empty) Rational ClearCase VOB, import it into Rational Team Concert. Download some project from the Eclipse CVS repository, disconnect this project from CVS, and then to upload this (big) project to both Rational Team Concert and Rational ClearCase (using the Rational ClearCase Connector's synchronization engine).

Rational ClearCase

1.     Create a new VOB (using the Create VOB item in the Start menu program) called org.eclipse.jdt.core:

A.            On the first page of the creation wizard, fill in VOB's name, check the option "Create as a UCM project VOB", and press the Next button.

B.         Page 2: keep the defaults and press the Next button.

C.         Page 3: keep the defaults, but write down (or copy/paste in a Notepad) the storage location for this VOB (will be used in the synchronized stream creation wizard).

D.    Page 4: keep defaults, and press Finish button.

E.     Wait for the creation to complete.

2.             Open the Rational ClearCase Administration console, and verify that the VOB was created.

3.             Still in the Administration Console, create a branch called HEAD. Write down the branch properties - HEAD@\org.eclipse.jdt.core - (will be used in the synchronized stream creation wizard) and press the OK button.

4.             Verify that the branch was created:

5.     Close the Rational ClearCase Administrative console. Consider that you are now all set from the Rational ClearCase perspective.

Nested LDAP sub-group members are not given proper access to Jazz Team server.

1.     You define a LDAP group named: MyJazzAdminUsers, added user1 and 2 into the group.

2.     You map MyJazzAdminUsers to JazzAdmins group in your Jazz team server. User1 and 2 are given admin access by being placed in MyJazzAdminUsers group.

3.     You created another LDAP user group: group1, added user3 and 4 to it.

You added group1 as a sub-group of MyJazzAdminUsers. User3 and 4 are not getting admin access to your Jazz team server.

Cause

Rational Team Concert 1.0.x does not supported LDAP nested groups. This feature is planned to be implemented in Rational Team Concert 2.0.
Refer to Jazz.net
Work item 59463 for detail of this enhancement request.

Resolving the problem

In order to provide LDAP group the proper access to your Jazz team server, try include all nested group members to its parent group, until Rational Team Concert supports nested LDAP groups.

63.         How do I – understand the Error: You do not have the required role to access the Jazz Team Server

You are trying to access RTC using LDAP authentication. When you try to login with your credentials you get the error message:

You do not have the required role to access the Jazz Team Server

Cause

LDAP Configuration steps are incomplete.

Resolving the problem

Import the users. To import users, login to the jazz server: https://:9443/jazz/admin

Go to the User Management tab, use the "Import User" button to search and import the LDAP IDs into RTC.

64.         How do I – understand the Error Error: Your account does not belong to the groups that are authorized to access the Web UI

You are setting up LDAP authentication. When you login, you get the error:

Your account does not belong to the groups that are authorized to access the Web UI.  Please contact your server administrator.

Cause

LDAP authentication is not configured properly.

Resolving the problem

You must add the user to the group you are mapping to the RTC JazzUsers group. Make sure that all tags in the web.xml file in every block, are filled in for the groups you are using. For example if the user is mapped to JazzUsers, make sure that every JazzUsers tag is filled in. After saving your changes, restart the Jazz Server and Web. You should now be able to login with your LDAP ID.

Licensing

7.1         How do I - activating Rational Team Concert 1.0.1 / 2.0 "Floating" license management

How do you activate IBM Rational Team Concert licenses to have more than the three built-in users?

Answer

There are different types of contributor licenses, that you activate with the activation kits files. The following activation kits are available.

The name of the file is
lm_standard_server.jar. You need to use this with the main page of the license management on the top part to activate the server part "Server activation key"

After browsing to this file and save the changes, you can see the license server URL field and the field to browse to the floating users activation kit in the second tab. You can now provide the URL towards the location of the license server in the following format:

http://servername.domain:9080/jazz

When the server is the same computer:

http://localhost:9080/jazz when the server is the local computer.

"Test the connection" to make sure the URL is the correct one.

Note that, if the server can be the same computer. you do not need additional software to manage and serve the floating licenses. If you have another computer with IBM Rational Team Concert installed, you can also host the floating licenses there and share the use of the licenses with the URL of this other computer.

A new line Rational Team Concert 1.0.1> Standard > Floating Developer .... will appear, but you cannot modify it in this page or tab. You need to go to the floating license server tab instead.

For Rational Team Concert 2.0 see the video
Jazz Licensing in Ten Minutes.

From the the floating license server tab you can browse to your floating license activation kit and add in the purchased field the number of licenses you purchased. Do not forget to save the changes.

If the above does not work, you can look for the file
teamserver.properties and modify the line manually. Save the file and restart the IBM Rational Team Concert server.

65.         How do I – understand why Floating licenses are not released after logging out of Rational Team Concert or Rational Quality Manager

The Jazz server was configured to use floating licenses and login to the server.I check the licenses used in the Admin GUI.After logging out, the license still displays as in use.

Cause

This is working as designed

Resolving the problem

The "floating" part is for the server. For example, unlike FlexLM where the server managed licenses, the licenses are not tied to the server host name or hardware ID.It is not floating for the CAL (Client Access License). That gets assigned in advance to user Ids.The time the user holds the license is 120 minutes.A floating Client Access License (CAL) enables multiple users to share the same CAL.

This link to the Rational Team Concert Information center has a more information on Floating CALS.

66.         How do I – understand where to find and how to activate licenses on Rational Team Concert

Where can you find activate licenses in IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC)?

Cause

After installing RTC you need to activate client and server licenses, you first need to connect to your Passport Advantage account, "media access and downloads", download finder, then look for the products activation kits, download the server and client license kits and save the jar files on the machine where jazz team server is installed.

Answer

For detailed steps of how to activate licenses keys, refer to the Managing license keys page in the Team Concert Information center.

67.         How do I – understand why Rational Team Concert licenses lost every few days

You have purchased permanent licenses of RTC and have uploaded the proper server and client license keys to your Jazz team server. However, every few days, you noticed all the RTC licenses being lost and your Jazz team server runs in trial mode. Then you have to upload the license keys again to turn it back to permanent mode.

Cause

This unexpected behavior can be caused by lots of simultaneous requests to LicenseService.loadLicenseState, when the JarInputStream will pretend that a file has not been signed, if an exception is thrown while that file is being verified. This has been identified as a product defect in RTC 1.0 and resolved in RTC 1.0.1. See Jazz.net work item 60652 for details of the defect.

Resolving the problem

To resolve this problem, upgrade your RTC 1.0 to RTC 1.0.1.

68.         How do I – understand the Error: Missing Required License

After upgrading your license from a trial version of RTC, you get a message:

Missing Required License

Reviewing the licenses with the Administrator perspective shows that you do have a license.

Cause

Updating the Jazz server license disabled the developer licenses

Resolving the problem

Reload the licenses to resolve the issue.

At the RTC Web site, select Server > License Key Management > Client Access License Activation Keys > Upload Key to upload the activation key.

69.         How do I – understand about academic Licenses for Rational Team Concert

Rational Team Concert 1.0 is available free of charge to academic institutions for use in accredited course programs or academic research projects. There is no limit on the number of licenses for academic use.

By default RTC is installed with a trial license. A special activation kit for academic use needs to be applied to prevent the trial version from expiring.

See the
RTC academic licenses page on the Jazz.net site for more information on academic licences.

For information on how to apply the academic activation kit, refer to the
IBM Academic Initiative site.

70.         How do I -  maximize total number of users and licenses RTC Standard Edition supports

You have the RTC Standard Edition installed, but only 10 developer and contributor licenses are assigned. The RTC Standard edition has a limit of 250.

Answer

If you are using Derby as the database system, RTC only supports up to 10 users. In order to maximize total number of users and licenses RTC Standard Edition supports, you need to configure IBM DB2ฎ, IBM DB2 Express or Oracle as the database system for your Standard RTC Edition.

Here are License Key Management sample screenshots for DB2 Express and Derby configuration:

< DB2 Express >

71.         How do I – understand the total number of available Client Access Licenses (CALs) does not display properly in Rational Team Concert issue

You have IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC) Standard edition installed and you setup the repository database with DB2. You also purchased and installed the client access license keys, However, you are not seeing the correct number CALs in the License Key Management page from the Jazz Team Server web UI. Here is an example of the screen shot:

undefined

Cause

It is because the Purchased license number is set to 0 by default.

Resolving the problem

To resolve this issue:

Manually modify the "Purchased" field beside the corresponding "Client Access License Type" to state the number of CALs that you purchased. Once the change is made, the available license number will get updated accordingly to reflect the right number.

Note: When you purchase and install the client access license keys, the web UI is unlocked so that you can enter in the number of CALs that you purchased. If you just installed the key then the number purchased would be 0 until you update it.

73.         How do I – understand the Error when running Jazz Team Server on Websphere Application Server 6.1

The following is the sample screen of errors capture from Jazz Admin Web UI, after Jazz Team Server is loaded under Websphere Application Server.

undefined

Under Server, Statistics tab from the Web UI of Jazz Team Server, shows the following error too:

Error fetching active services information (detailed message: Error 500: CRJAZ1118I Unable to load server configuration.)

Cause

Websphere Application Server is not able to locate the Jazz Team Server configuration file: teamserver.properties.
